So you want to scrape the web…

I [Chris Hanretty] will be taking the first Going Digital training session next Wednesday 30th January, in UEA’s London campus. It’s called Scraping the Web – but it might well be subtitled, How To Save An Awful Lot Of Time By Writing Computer Programs To Copy And Paste Information From Long And/Or Repetitive Websites.

If that wonderfully concise description has piqued your interest, you can download the booklet for the training session, which I’ve put on my web site.

The session takes you from your first programs in the Python programming language, to some handy recipes to extract information from web site tables and lists. It’s going to be a hands-on session, so those who are attending, please do try and bring your own laptops. We’ll have lots of powerpoints and guest WiFi usernames ready.
